Magnolia Plantation, Charleston, SC | Southern Snapshot

The late travel writer, Charles Kuralt, described the Magnolia Plantation as, "My greatest Charleston pleasure."  It is the oldest public tourist site in the lowcountry.

My husband and I visited it during our honeymoon in Charleston, SC over 16 years ago and it is breathtakingly beautiful!  The gardens have been planted with flowers to bloom in each season, so no matter when you visit, it will be like heaven for those who love flowers.

The gardens were probably my favorite when we visited, but you can also enjoy:

Touring The House;
Riding the nature train;
The Peacock Cafe;
Taking a boat tour;
Celebrating the turning point in American history when we moved from slavery to freedom;
A zoo and nature center; and more including
Programs for Youth.

If Charleston, SC is on your travel radar, this is one attraction you do not want to miss.

Have you ever visited Charleston, SC? What was your "greatest Charleston pleasure"?

    • Hilton Head is beautiful, too (as you said, SC is such a beautiful state)… just doesn’t have the “historic charm” of Charleston, IMHO! I hope you can.
